X-ray services at Bedford Hospital

Update on Radiology Services offered by Bedford Hospital

From Monday 27 October 2025, all GP-referred X-ray services at Bedford Hospital (at the Community Diagnostics Centre and the acute hospital site) will require patients to have a pre-booked appointment.

Appointment letters will be sent by the Radiology Service to patients by post, with the walk-in access gradually being phased out to ensure a smooth transition.

This changes aims to improve patient experience and reduce waiting times, as well as enhance service efficiency and resource planning.

What do this mean for GP practices?

• Please advise patients that they will be contacted with an appointment date and should not attend without confirmation.
